HISTORY

Foundry Dereu has been located in Eernegem in West Flanders since 1949.

After the Second World War Gustaaf Dereu started a metal smithy and together with his sons Hedwig and Georges he converted it into a small iron foundry. He produced castings for construction, sewerage and road works.

In 1975 the company moved into a new complex next to the existing foundry and some new machines were also installed. Foundry Dereu evolved from a classic hand molding to a semi-automatic manufacturer of quality castings for industry and machine construction. At the request of a few customers, castings were also made of refractory cast iron and with a fine casting surface.

In 1994 Jean-Marie Dereu, the son of Hedwig, became the third generation in the company, while Georges Dereu retired from the company. After the death of Hedwig in 1996, Jean-Marie continued to work alone and in 2000 he expanded the foundry with a new smelting furnace, blasting machines and a molding line.
